Brentwood, TN-
As part of their "Public Education"
night, a group of Brentwood citizens
participating in the Citizen's Fire
Academy received an educational session
focusing on residential sprinklers.
The Citizens Fire Academy, which is made
up of individuals who live or work in
the City of Brentwood, also includes the
City's Vice-Mayor.
Seizing the opportunity to increase the
public awareness of residential
sprinkler benefits, Brentwood personnel
coordinated with the Pleasant View
Volunteer Fire Department to provide
their Live Fire Sprinkler Demonstration
trailer. Following a 30-minute
Power Point and Q & A classroom portion,
the group relocated outside for the live
fire demonstration.
"This gave us a prime opportunity to
dispel several myths and
misunderstandings regarding residential
sprinklers, and sprinkler systems in
general," said Brian Collins, who
presented the material, "and I think we
achieved our goal. We even have
one of the participants who's looking to
retrofit his house as a result of this
program."
