With a 14-5 Tuesday night vote, Fayette
County became the 2nd Tennessee county
to require fire sprinklers in all new
one- and two-family dwellings. The
City of Piperton, located in Fayette
County, recently enacted similar
legislation.
Cheatham County, following four of it's
municipalities, passed the requirement
in 2006.
County commissioners cited the ability
to effectively "freeze" fire protection
concerns at their current level by
ensuring that all homes constructed
after April 1, 2008, will have their own
fire protection built-in. The
requirement focuses only on new
construction, not requiring existing
homes or structures to retrofit the
systems.

Note from FTT: We know how hard
the Fayette County Team has worked to
make this a reality... Congratulations
on a job well done! Your efforts
will save lives for years to come.
