Brentwood-

In the late hours of Wednesday, October 12th, the Brentwood Fire Department was dispatched to a house fire at 1105 Lipscomb Drive.  First-arriving units found heavy fire conditions in the structure.

One occupant of the home was pronounced dead at the scene.  Complete details were not available at the time of this post.

According to Brentwood Fire Marshal Nancy Jones, the early indicators point to smoke inhalation as the cause of death.  If an autopsy confirms these reports, this will be the first structure-fire related fatality since the City started providing fire protection in 1986.

While the investigation is on-going, cigarette smoking is believed to be the cause of the blaze.

Updates on this story will be posted as they become available.
