Fatal Fire in Cheatham County
Brian Collins, FTT  - 10/3/2005

Cheatham County-

On Friday, September 30th, firefighters from Two Rivers and Ashland City Fire Departments responded to a reported structure fire at 2260 Griffintown Road, located in the White Bluff community of Cheatham County.  While en route, local dispatch advised responding units that the structure may still be occupied.

First-arriving units found heavy fire in the single-family dwelling.  After forcing entry into the front door, firefighters attacked the fire and conducted a search of the home.  One occupant was found inside the structure, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The name of the victim has not yet been released.  Autopsy results confirm smoke inhalation as the cause of death.

The home was not equipped with residential sprinklers.

"I don't think the house even had smoke detectors," reports Ashland City firefighter Allen Nicholson.

The cause of the fire has been identified as electrical in nature.
